Individuals in danger are at the core of Amnesty International. The site Isavelives.be offers you the opportunity to come to their direct aid. When you register you can follow the developments of somebody in danger, intervene in their favour and exchange with other activists who are taking action on his behalf.

Amnesty protects individuals by securing improvements in their welfare while tackling the root causes that lead to the abuse of many. By choosing to take action for an individual at risk, you can challenge the practices that lead to human rights violations and bring about deep and lasting change.

Individuals in Danger

Individuals in danger come from all horizons and all regions of the world. These people are in danger because of their opinions, their identity or their activities in favour of the human rights of others. They risk imprisonment, of unfair trials, of torture, abduction, of the death penalty and other violations of international human rights and humanitarian rights.

In the case of immediate danger, notably torture or execution, Amnesty International launches urgent actions for which the rapidity of the apeals is crucial. We estimate that in a third of some 500 cases launched per annum the action leads to an improvement in the situation of the person concerned.

How to take action ?

You can send appeals to authorities and (according to the case) cards of solidarity to the persons in danger. You can inform others of the situation of the person in danger and they, in their turn, can help to maintain the pressure on the authorities.
