Abdul Hamid al-Ghizzawi was freed from Guantánamo in March 2010 after seven years of imprisonment.
Libyan national Abdul Hamid al-Ghizzawi was one of three men transferred to Georgia from Guantánamo in March 2010. The identities of the three men were not disclosed by the US Department of Justice "for security and privacy reasons" but Abdul-Hamid al-Ghizzawi's lawyer later confirmed to the media that her client was one of those transferred. The men had been approved for transfer by the Guantánamo Review Task Force which was established by President Obama to review the cases of all Guantánamo detainees.

Amnesty International does not currently have more information about his situation in Georgia but his lawyer has said, "I am just back from the beautiful country of Georgia where Al-Ghizzawi, after eight years of wrongful imprisonment at Guantánamo, is now a free man. On behalf of Mr. Al-Ghizzawi I want to thank the people of Georgia for their kindness and compassion in allowing him to settle in their country. "
