The fate of the school is now being fought in court. The court hearing is expected in March (exact date to be confirmed nearer the time). The school remains at risk and sustained campaigning action is important.
There have been further demolitions in the village. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), on 3 January Israeli army vehicles arrived at Fasayil and demolished 12 residential tents and 12 other properties belonging to a Bedouin community (80 people, all registered refugees). According to the Israeli eviction order handed to the community in 2007, the community lies outside the Fasayil village master plan, does not possess building permits and is located in Area C (which constitutes 60 percent of the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley), where Palestinians are not permitted to build.
