Muhammad bin Abd Rab al-Amir bin Ali al-Shammari (previously spelled Mohammad Abdul Amir) an Iraqi national aged 36, was arrested in 1995 and charged with the murder of a Saudi Arabian man. He was executed in the town of on Arar, near Saudi Arabia's border with Iraq, on 23 November.
He confessed to the crime after being interrogated for three months, during which he was allegedly tortured. A criminal court in Arar, sentenced him to death after a summary and secret trial. He had not been allowed any access to lawyers. [ Lire la suite » ]

Reginald Brooks, a 66-year-old man diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was executed in Ohio, USA on 15 November, after nearly three decades on death row. He was sentenced to death in November 1983 for killing his three sons in March 1982.

On 14 October, a court in northern city of Khujand in the Soghd region, Tajikistan, found BBC journalist, Urunboy Usmonov, guilty of charges brought against him, which implicate him in criminal activities related to banned religious groups.
Tajik journalist Urunboy Usmonov was sentenced to three years' imprisonment on 14 October but released immediately under an amnesty. He will be appealing against the verdict. [ Lire la suite » ]

Manuel Valle, a 61-year-old Cuban national, was executed on the evening of 28 September in the US state of Florida.
Manuel Valle was executed by lethal injection at Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida. He had been convicted of the murder of a police officer in 1978 and was 27 years old when first sent to death row. He had spent over three decades under the threat of execution. [ Lire la suite » ]

A Pakistani man, Syed Zahid Hussain Shah was executed by lethal injection on 21 September after the Supreme People’s Court in Beijing had approved his death sentence.
Syed Zahid Hussain Shah was sentenced to death in March 2010 for drug trafficking in Shanghai and his verdict was upheld in November 2010. His family travelled to China to plea for mercy to the Chinese leaders on humanitarian grounds, but their pleas were rejected. [ Lire la suite » ]
