An 34–year-old Egyptian man, Atef Rohyum Abd El Al Rohyum, is at imminent risk of execution. He was sentenced to death for murder in July 2005, along with a woman, Jihan Mohammed Ali. Jihan Mohammed Ali was executed on 10 March 2010, and Atef Rohyum Abd El Al Rohyum could therefore be put to death at any time. Egypt's President has the power to halt the execution. Iraqi national Mohammad Abdul Amir has been scheduled for execution on 13 March in the town of Arar, near Saudi Arabia's border with Iraq. On 24 February, 57 alleged members of Sudanese armed opposition group, the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), some of whom had been sentenced to death, were released from prison in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, as part of a ceasefire agreement. Urgent action (bad news): Martin Grossman executed in Florida

Martin Grossman, aged 45, was executed in the US state of Florida shortly after 6pm on 16 February for a crime committed when he was 19 years old. He was convicted of murder in 1985, and had been on death row for nearly a quarter of a century.
Martin Grossman was sentenced to death for the murder of Margaret Park, a 26-year-old woman employed as a wildlife officer by the Florida Game and Fish Commission. She was shot dead while on patrol on 13 December 1984. [ Lire la suite » ]

A Chinese man, Wang Yang, could be executed within a week if China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) approves his death sentence. His case has been heard a total of nine times by different courts since he was first sentenced in 2003. Five men found guilty of killing Bangladesh’s first president were executed in Dhaka Central Jail in the early hours of 28 January, 13 hours after the final judicial review of their sentences.
Syed Farooq-ur Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Mohiuddin Ahmed, AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed and Bazlul Huda were hanged one by one soon after midnight on 28 January 2010. [ Lire la suite » ]

The death sentence against a Filipina female domestic worker, Jakatia Pawa, was upheld by Kuwait’s Court of Cassation on 19 January. The sentence will now be submitted to Kuwait’s head of state, the Amir, for ratification.
