Urgent action (good news): Maldives. Campaigner for religious tolerance released

A Maldivian activist who was attacked and detained on 10 December 2011 for organising a peaceful protest calling for religious tolerance was released on 6 January. His attackers remain at large.
Ismail "Khilath" Rasheed was assaulted by about 10 men opposing a peaceful demonstration he had organized in the capital, Malé, on 10 December. He sustained a skull fracture after being hit with stones, but was then arrested by police a few days later. [ Lire la suite » ]

Abdul Hamid bin Hussain bin Moustafa al-Fakki was executed on 19 September 2011.

Abdul Hamid bin Hussain bin Moustafa al-Fakki, a Sudanese man aged around 36, was sentenced to death by the General Court in Madina on 27 March 2007 after being convicted of sorcery. On Sunday 10 July, the congregation of the Taman Yasmin Indonesian Church (Gereja Kristen Indonesia, GKI) held their weekly religious service outside their sealed-off church.
