Shibal Ibrahim, a member of Syria's Kurdish minority and a political activist, has been held incommunicado by Syrian security forces since his arrest on 22 September 2011. Farzad Haghshenas, an environmental activist and member of the NGO, Sabzchia (The Green Mountain Society), was released on bail on 1 October.
A member of the Kurdish minority in Iran, Farzad Haghshenas, 35, was released from the Marivan Intelligence detention facility in Kordestan Province, north-western Iran, after the payment of about 520 million rials bail (about US$ 50,000). Urgent action: Israel. Palestinian properties at risk of demolition.

On 18 September, the Israeli military served three “stop work” orders against four domestic structures belonging to three Palestinian Bedouin families in the Tubas district in the occupied West Bank. These orders precede demolition orders, so the properties could be destroyed at any time. The villages are in “Area C” where the Israeli authorities effectively prohibit any Palestinian construction. Two Iranian Kurdish men, who were arrested while celebrating the postponement of a fellow activist's execution in December, remain in detention. They are both prisoners of conscience.
