Online activist, Nasser Abul, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for writing derogatory remarks about Sunni Muslims on his Twitter account. He has already been detained for three months, so was released on 27 September. He was acquitted of the charges of insulting the ruling families of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. [ Lire la suite » ]

Kuwaiti journalist and blogger Muhammad ‘Abd al-Qader al-Jasem, held since 11 May 2010, was released following a court appearance on 28 June. His bail was set at 2000 Kuwaiti Dinar (about US$6850). [ Lire la suite » ]

Amnesty International has learnt that Kuwaiti journalist Muhammad ‘Abd al-Qader al-Jasem was released on bail on 4 December 2009, 12 days after being detained. He had been held at the Interior Ministry’s Criminal Investigation Department in the Kuwaiti capital, Kuwait City, after criticizing the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser Al Sabah, during a private meeting in October 2009. Male Kuwaiti journalist, Muhammad ‘Abd al-Qader al-Jasem, was detained at a Criminal Investigation office in Kuwait City on 22 November. At a private meeting in October 2009, he criticised the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser Al Sabah. He is a prisoner of conscience. [ Lire la suite » ]
