Urgent action (good news): Four men released in Libya

Four men, Zeyad Ramadan, Ghazi Ramadan, Khaled Sury and another unnamed man, were released at 9:30pm on 25 April. They had been held incommunicado from 19 March.
On 19 March, a group of men believed to be Internal Security Agency officials, broke down the door of the house where Zeyad Ramadan and Ghazi Ramadan, who are brothers, were living in Western Tripoli, according to relatives who live outside Libya. A Syrian journalist and her brother have been detained incommunicado in Libya since 28 March and are at risk of torture or other ill-treatment. Four Al Jazeera journalists working in western Libya have been held incommunicado since they were detained while trying to leave the country two weeks ago. Urgent action: Jamal al-Hajji detained for raising human rights

An outspoken critic of the human rights record of Libya, Jamal al-Hajji, was arrested on 9 December and apparently transferred to prison. Amnesty International considers him a prisoner of conscience, detained solely for his criticism of the Libyan authorities. [ Lire la suite » ]
