Urgent action (follow-up): Sudan. Detained activist Bushra Gamar Hussein Rahma has been transferred.

On 22 January, Sudanese human rights activist Bushra Gamar Hussein Rahma was transferred from Kober prison, Khartoum, into the custody of the Attorney-General. Political activist and engineer Mohamed Hassan Alim was arrested by the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, on 26 December 2011. Urgent action (good news): South Sudan. Journalists Ngor Garang and Dengdit Ayok, released

The two journalists from newspaper The Destiny, arrested in early November, have been released without charge.

Ngor Garang, The Destiny's editor-in-chief, had been arrested on 1 November when he went to a meeting with the Director General of South Sudan's National Security Services (NSS). A journalist working for the The Destiny, Dengdit Ayok, was arrested by NSS personnel four days later, at the newspaper's offices. [ Lire la suite » ]

On 20 April around 100 people were arrested following demonstrations at Nyala University, Nyala, capital of South Darfur state in Sudan. Five of those arrested remain in custody.
