Prisoner of conscience Milad Asadi was released from Evin Prison in Tehran on 27 August 2011 where he had been serving a seven year prison sentence. His release followed a pardon by the Supreme Leader. [ Lire la suite » ]

Syrian civil society activist Amjad Baiazy has been held incommunicado since his arrest at Syria’s Damascus International Airport on 12 May. Amnesty International believes that he may be a prisoner of conscience, detained solely for the peaceful exercise of his right to freedom of expression. On 21 April, prisoner of conscience İnan S. fled from hospital where he had been transferred to from Manisa-Saruhanlı prison. He was re-arrested the next day, while he was with his friends in the Western coastal province of Izmir. İnan S. was taken to Buca prison in Izmir. [ Lire la suite » ]

A 25-year-old teacher was arrested on 4 March during a protest held in Riyadh calling for reform. On 2 March, a video of him calling for protests in support of the fall of the monarchy was posted on YouTube. Urgent action (follow up): New risk for Turkish conscientious objector İnan S.

Turkish prisoner of conscience İnan S. has been moved to a prison in the western coastal city of İzmir, where he is now held pending trial on charges of "infringement of leave". When serving a previous sentence for "desertion" at the same prison, he reported being beaten by prison guards. He is at risk of torture or other ill-treatment. [ Lire la suite » ]

Iranian human rights defender Ali Bikas was released from Evin Prison on 29 June 2010 after being acquitted of all charges on appeal. He had previously been sentenced to seven years imprisonment and was a prisoner of conscience. [ Lire la suite » ]
