Urgent action (good news): China. Chinese designer Liu Zhenggang released.

Liu Zhenggang, a designer, has been released. He was released on 24 June on medical grounds. He remains under surveillance at his home in Beijing, China.
Liu Zhenggang, a designer working at internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei’s design firm, was released from detention on 24 June. He is now at his home in Beijing, China and is under surveillance. [ Lire la suite » ]

Urgent action: Viet Nam. Health fears for detained Vietnamese blogger Nguyen Hoang Hai, also known as Dieu Cay

The lawyer and family of popular Vietnamese blogger Nguyen Hoang Hai, also known as Dieu Cay, have not been allowed to visit him in prison for six months. There are concerns for his health, as they have also been prevented from sending him food and medicine. Muzaffar Bhutto, a senior member of a Sindhi nationalist political party in Pakistan, has been abducted for a second time allegedly by plain-clothed intelligence agents and police on 25 February. Urgent action (good news): Guinea: four soldiers released

Four soldiers held in Guinea since January 2009, were released on 7 April after 15 months of detention. No charge was ever held against them.

Colonel Soryba Yansané, Lieutenant Colonel David Syllah, Commander Pathio Bangourah and Sergeant Moussa Sylla were released without charge on 7 April 2010 after 15 months of arbitrary detention. [ Lire la suite » ]


 

Urgent action (good news): Chinese pro-democracy writer Zhao Shiying released

Zhao Shiying, independent writer and detained signatory of Charter 08, was released and returned home on 25 January 2010. He remains under surveillance by police.

Zhao Shiying (better known by his pen name Zhao Dagong) had been taken from his home in the city of Shenzhen, near Hong Kong, by police on 11 January.
