Pro-reform activist Georges Moubayed was abducted on 10 January 2012 and remains held at an unknown location by a group believed to be linked to the Syrian authorities. On 12 January, his family received a phone-call in which he said he had been shot in the leg and the abductors demanded a ransom for his release. He is at risk of torture and other ill-treatment. Urgent action (good news): Pakistan. Abducted Pakistani journalist Rehmatullah Darpakhel released.

Pakistani journalist Rehmatullah Darpakhel, who was abducted on 11 August 2011, was released on 12 October and is now recovering with his family.
On the afternoon of 11 August 2011, journalist Rehmatullah Darpakhel was abducted by unknown men as he shopped for groceries in his home town of Miran Shah in North Waziristan, in north-western Pakistan. [ Lire la suite » ]


 

Urgent action: KM Shamim Akhter abducted in Bangladesh.

Urgent action: Georgi Nakani, abducted in Russian federation

Georgi Nakani, a 21-year-old man from village of Neitrino in the Russian Federation Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the North Caucasus, was abducted by unidentified men at around midnight on 15 December. He was shot at, pushed into a car and driven away. His whereabouts are unknown and Amnesty International fears he may be the victim of an enforced disappearance. [ Lire la suite » ]
